| Description | Acknowledges Larmor and Geikie's letter [NLB/28/253] and regrets the 'incident' on which they complain [that the paper by Dr Bashford and Dr Murray "The Significance of the Zoological Distribution, the Nature of the Mitoses, and the Transmissibility of Cancer", was published by the British Medical Journal without an official copy being sent to them by the Royal Society]. Assures the Assistant Editor of the Journal 'acted in good faith' under the impression that he had a right to publish the paper, and has expressed his apology at the misunderstanding and intends to take greater precaution in the future. Refers to the aim of the British Medical Association 'to secure for its Journal the highest possible standard, and the first place in medical literature' something they hope the Society will help them with. |
