Description | Divers mentions there has been a misunderstanding in the position of Mr G T Beilby on the General Board of of the National Physical Laboratory. Informs Beilby was unable to accept the Society of Chemical Industry's nomination, therefore Mr D Howard, their past President was asked to represent their Society on the Board. Mr Forbes Carpenter has resigned due to ill health, and Mr Thomas Tyrer has been nominated in his place.
Enclosed is a memorandum on blue paper for the President, dated 30 December 1906, regarding Mr Howard's appointment. Enclosed is a memorandum on blue paper for Professor [Joseph] Larmor, dated 1 January 1906. Enclosed is a typescript copy of a letter from [Joseph] Lamor, to [Edward] Divers, dated 2 January 1906, clarifying 'that when a vacancy occurs on the Executive Committee of the National Physical Laboratory by resignation it is the duty of the Counil of the Royal Society to fill it up either from members of the General Board nominated by Technical Societies. Refers to Beilby's nomination, and the President of the Society of Chemical Industry's preference for different mode of selection. Enclosed is a typescript copy of a letter to Edward Divers, dated 5 January 1906, refers to Mr Beilby as a member of the Board, and the resignation of Mr Forbes Carpenter. Enclosed is a typescript copy of a letter to Joseph Larmor, dated 5 January 1906, regarding Carpenters resigntion. |
