Description | Relaying correspondence with Samuel Hunter Christie, [Secretary of the Society] regarding Rigg's paper on the chemical and physiological composition of carbon and the causes of its formation and decomposition. Rigg rejects Christie's opinion on one of his paper and appeals to the Marquis for an examination of experiments. Christie had also made reference to [Justus von] Liebig's book on the application of carbon in agriculture and physiology. [Appeal declined by Council on 17 December 1840.] |
