Title | Letter from Robert Mallet, Delville, Glasnevin, Co Dublin, to Colonel [Edward] Sabine, Secretary of the Royal Society, Somerset House, London |
Date | 6 February 1856 |
Description | Adding further information [on the construction of an iron wrought mortar] for the Council's notice, in particular in reference to the work by the Mersey Steel & Iron Company of Liverpool. Mallet was told to seek the government's support for the expense of his experiments in an application which would be supported by the Council. Mallet is highly sceptical of the application's success.
[Note: Sabine was at this point treasurer of the Royal Society. The letter covers two papers, the second of which is labelled MC/5/225a within the volume.] |
