DescriptionWood refers to his letter from 1880 on behalf of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, for recommendations regarding the Albert Medal of the Society of Arts. The Society of Arts requests the assistance of the Royal Society for suggestions of names 'considered suitaible for the Albert Medal', and describes the history of the medal. Enclosed is a list in typescript consisting of one page, 'showing the awards made since the institution of the medal in 1862 by HRH the Prince Consort.
