DescriptionRegarding the governments commission to Trinity House to undertake a 'series of experiments for determining the relative values of oil, gas, and electricity as illuminating agents for light house purposes, their penetrative power in fog or haze, and the effect of the contrivances for enhancing the light under the latter conditions'. Refers to the important 'scientific men' who have assisted the Deputy Master and elder brethren' in this work, including [Robert Stawell] Ball, [William Grylls] Adams, [William Venables] Vernon Harcourt and [Harold Baily] Dixon. Webb would like to bring this subject under the notice of the Royal Society.
