DescriptionHerschel refers to his 'disappointment' at the small result of manuscripts 'lately submitted'. Clarifies his deputation to England was for 'collating observations already made'. After a year and a half of this work Herschel was summoned 'to undertake physical observations ' entailing frequent 'chage of locale'. Remarks on the work that remains to be done 'is far more heavier and more difficult than' he 'could accomplish'. Hershcel refers to his pendulum history.
