DescriptionRefers to a report the Royal Society sent to the Secretary of State for India regarding John Herschel's pendulum observations. Godley informs that Herschel has submitted 'in manuscript the bulk of the record and reduction of his observations' in 1881 to 1882. Lord Kimberley requests the Society to advise on the publication of these results. Discussion regaridng the cost of publication, and refers to the expenditure of employing Herschel for years in India for 'scientific experiments in which India is not specially interested' in.
