Description | Roy thanks the Royal Society for their assistance as a representative of the Commission sent to Spain to 'investigate' the pathology of cholera. Refers to letters from the French and Spanish Ambassadors which allowed boxes containing instruments to pass through cutoms easily, and efers to 'invaluable' help of the English delegation and Consulate at Madrid. He thanks the English Consul at Madrid, Mr Macpherson, remarks on the specific help he provided, and his influence with Spanish officials. Roy would like to draw the Foreign Office's attention to Macpherson's 'high personal character' and 'the energy and skills he displayed'. Thanks the English chargé d'affaires in Madrid, Mr de Bunjen, the Dean of the medical corporation of the province of Madrid, Dr Benavides, and Director of the Hygienic Laboratory, Dr Mendoza. Comments on the results of the investigation and the material they brought home. |
