Knowles informs the Royal Society of 'a mythological discovery of the greatest importance' that he has made. He remarks the 'discovery touches so nearly on the faiths or creeds of the poeoples of Europe and Asias', that he dare not disclose it. Knowles intends to write his discovery in a sealed packet not to be opened until 1900, placed in the hands of certain selected bodies, and enquires if the Society would be interested in this.
