Includes the following reply: 'Sir, I regret to say that owing to press of business your letter could not be considered by the President and Council of the Royal Society until a few days ago. I am now directed to state in reply, that the President and Council do not feel able to express any very definite opinion about your methods, except that in some respects they present certain advantages over those in ordinary use.'
