DescriptionCunningham enquires if the Royal Society would offer 'assistance in the matter of an enquiry into the causes of explosions of cylinders containing oxygen and other gases'. Remarks on questions being raised in the House regarding this, and Dr Dupre's 'interesting and valuabe report'. The Secretary of State wuld like the opinion of 'two scientific men', 'whether to take means to secure the testing of cylinders, or the inspection of works engaged in filling them'. Professor Charles [Vernon] Boys would be interested in drawing up a report. Cunningham would be happy to communicate with any person recommended by the Society regarding this matter.
