CreatorBruce; Sir; David (1855-1931)
Date25 October 1904
Description'There are two Trypanosoma diseases of cattle in South Africa, one caused by T. theileri, and the other the Tsetse Fly disease, by T. brucei. Arsenic is useless as a curative agent, although it will prolong an animal's life for some time. The Trypanosoma of Sleeping Sickness [African trypanosomiasis] and Tsetse Fly disease are quite distinct, - T.gambiense and T. brucei. The former is conveyed from the sick to the healthy by means of Glossina palpalis; the other by G. morsitans and pallidipes. D Bruce, Colonel R.A.M.C.'.
