Description | Etheridge calls attention to a line by Professor W J Sollas from the "Report of the Coral Reef Committee of the Royal Society", the false impression it gives, previous comments regarding this and the 'gentlemen' associated with the Funafuti Expedition 'whose honour is impeached thereby'.
Enclosed is a copy of a letter from [Archibald Geikie], Secretary of the Royal Society to Etheridge, dated 6 December 1904, consisting of one page. Acknowledging Etheridge's complaint regarding Professor Sollas's line in the published Report on the Funafuti Atoll, and informing that the lines were considered 'a simple statement of fact', there was 'no reason to modify or omit them', and 'there does not appear to be any ground for further action in the matter'. |
