Description'Sir, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to transmit to you, as Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Royal Society and Royal Geographical Society for the Antarctic Expedition, the accompanying copy of orders this day addressed to Lieutenant Colbeck RNR in command of the Relief Expedition, which will be sent out to await his arrival at Lyttelton. I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant, Evan MacGregor'.

Enclosed is a typescript copy of a letter from Lieutenant W Colbeck, Antarctic Relief Expedition, to Evan MacGregor, dated 5 February 1904, consisting of one page, referring to 'in the event of it proving necessary to abandon "Discovery", to bring home any collections, instruments, stores, and other articles saved from her, in the "Morning" and "Terra", as Commander Scott may desire'.
