Description'Sir, With reference to your letter of the 7th instant, requesting the loan of a steam vessel for the lite-flying experiments to be carried out by a Committee of the Royal Meteorological Society, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to request that they may be informed when and for how long the services of this vessel would be required, and where she would be employed. I am, Sir, Your obedient Servant, Evan MacGregor'.
