TitleLetter from C W [Charles William] Pasley, 12 Norfolk Crescent, Hyde Park, to the [Earl of Rosse], President of the Royal Society and to the Council
Date28 May 1853
DescriptionSuggesting ways in which to make the bequest from Sir Clifton Wintringham to the Society [for the establishment of the Wintringham Fund] less complex. Pasley recommends the institution of annual competitions on a topic of natural philosophy, which would see the award of the author of the best experimental examination. Pasley mentions the powers of the Court of Chancery in relation to a bequest of a money, and approves of the application of the dividends to the Foundling Hospital as a laudable public object.
