Description ' (1) The Council at their meeting on 11 May invited you, together with Sir Charles Sherrington, to represent the Society at the 200th Anniversary Celebrations of the Foundation of the of the Royal Swedish Academy to be held at Stockholm from 23-25 September 1939. The Foreign Secretary is preparing an Address for presentation on this occasion. I have today heard from Sir Charles Sherrington that he will be unable to go.

(2) At the same meeting Council agreed to ask you to send a congratulatory letter to Sir Edward Poulton, the jubilee of whose election iinto the Society will fall on 6 June next. I enclose a draft of a letter usually sent on occasions of this kind and if you will return it approved or amended I will have a copy ready for your signature when you are in the Society's rooms next week. You may like to be reminded that Lady Poulton died a few weeks ago. '
