TitleCopy letter from J D Griffith Davies Assistant Secretary to the Royal Society to Miss W E Deighton secretary to Sir William Bragg PRS
Date8 November 1939
Description ' Thank you for your letter of 7 November.

The meeting of Council on 14th December is to be held in Cambridge. There is really no reason why the President should put off his engagement to lecture in the Royal Institution, if he would care to ask one of the Vice-Presidents to act for him, that would be quite in order.

It so happens that at the December meeting of Council the President always nominates the Vice Presidents. I suggest that if he cannot be present he formally asks Sir Albert Seward (who is already a Vice-President) to act for him, and at the same time sends me the names of the Vice-Presidents whom he proposes to nomnate.

This latter point is important since the Year Book will go to press before the next meeting of Council. '
