Title | 'Memorandum. International Scientific Organisations. Part II. Finance' |
Date | c1940 |
Description | A brief summary of the changes in costs incured by the Royal Society in connection with international scientific organisations such as the International Association of Academies, since 1908. Contains a list of the cost of subscriptions to the 'international unions' such as astonormy, physics and chemistry for 1939 and a dicsussion of the changing role of the Treasury in meeting such costs including, for instance, the establishement in 1930 of an international research station at Jungfrau, Switzerland. The author thinks that the practice by which the unions only furnish the adhering organisations with statements of receipts and expenditure unsatisfactory. |
