Title | Copy letter from Henry Thomas Tizard, to an unknown correspondent |
Date | 23 May 1940 |
Description | Concerning letters sent to the Belgian Ambassador and the Netherlands Minister offering the assistance of the Royal Society in providing hospitality to Belgian and Dutch colleagues in the scientific world. Includes information about the response of the Netherlands Emergency Committee requesting further information about the hospitality available, and the subsequent agreement that Tizard would communicate with the Society Fellows and ask that they write directly to the Netherlands Emergency Committee should they be willing to entertain any Dutch colleagues.
Also notes the need to specify whether married couples would be accepted, and the preferred location of refugees. The lack of response from the Belgian Embassy is noted, along with the suggestion that the Fellows might communicate directly with Tizard should they be willing to offer assistance. |
