TitlePapers on the Sorby Research Fund
Date1904-1962
DescriptionCorrespondence with Henry Clifton Sorby on the creation of the Sorby Research Fund, with subsequent material on the allocation of grants. The Fund established a Fellowship to conduct original scientific research to promote the discovery of new facts, rather than for teaching. Sorby expressed the wish that the award should be connected with Sheffield, and the Royal Society determined that it would be administered in association with Sheffield University.
