TitleLetter from William Mitchinson Hicks, the University, Sheffield, to Joseph Larmor
Date20 January 1910
DescriptionHe had some conversation with the Secretary of the Institution of Mining Engineers, who referred to the legacy left by Mrs. Tyndall, and suggested that the Royal Society might consult with the coal mining industry, represented by the Institution. Hicks said he would mention the matter to the Royal Society, so that the organisation would be aware that the technical body was willing to co-operate if asked. He gives the Institution's office address and notes the current President, J.B. Simpson - possibly Parsons would know something about him.
