TitleLetter from John G. Garrett, the University, University Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, to [Francis Towle]
Date29 January 1925
DescriptionHe has found Towle's two letters in a pigeon-hole in the Students' Common-Room and is very sorry for the delay in replying. The letters were mixed in with those of a student with the same name. He asks that apologies are conveyed to the Tyndall Bequest Committee. In his studentship year, he continued his research into the resistance of mine roadways, on which he is still working. His time has been spent adapting and calibrating an aneroid barometer for use with a pitot head and analysing the static and velocity components of ventilating pressure using the instrument. The continued work is completely new, he believes, involving a considerable amount of work with slight return of results. He hopes to overcome present difficulties and publish a useful contribution to science.
