Date5 March 1830
DescriptionExpressing concern for his reputation and asserting that the manuscripts submitted to Mr Hudson were the first written observations made in 1822-23 with instruments at Paramatta during his stay with Sir Thomas Brisbane. Describes the sheets and how they correspondent to Brisbane's transit observations. What has happened between Sir Thomas and himself 'is a separate affair and of a private nature'. Asks what imputations have been made against him. 'It is a pity that men, under the mask of love and zeal for science should only endeavour to frustrate the views of others, and in reality only oppose the advancement of science...'.
