Title | Letter from Nevil Maskelyne, Greenwich, to Sir Joseph Banks |
Date | 7 July 1793 |
Description | Regreting that attendance at the Observatory has prevented him from concerting with Banks and Shepherd upon the proposed trials of Emery's watches. Maskelyne states that he "feels reluctance at not having the trial conducted as in the case of Harrison's watch".
With draft reply from Banks.
Thomas Mudge petitioned Parliament after his Father's instrument to determine Longitude was awarded £500. Mudge believed it should have claimed the higher sums offered by the Board of Longitude and blamed Nevil Maskelyne for this. |
