Description | Enclosing copy of a certificate received by him on the performance of his steering-compass, in case it should be desired by the Board of Longitude to have an enquiry made into it.
The first certificate is from Capt. John Wiles of HMS 'Lancaster', who states that in the most severe weather, the Steering-compass has been found to answer every purpose.
Also included are other printed certficates from Masters, Commanders and First Officers of the 'Countess of Leicester', 'Belvedere', 'Calcutta' and 'Eagle Cutter', on the worthiness of Syeds's compass. |
