DescriptionSabine informs Lloyd of the election of [John] Herschel as chair and [Charles] Wheatstone as secretary to the of the Royal Society Committee of Physics; [John] Herschel also elected chair of the Royal Society Committee of Meteorology, with Sabine himself as secretary. Report to be drawn up by these committees to urge the government to sanction the proposal of a scientific expedition [to Antarctica] and the establishment of fixed observatories [in the British Empire].
