TitleLetter from Edward Sabine, Athenaeum to Humphrey Lloyd
DescriptionSabine has been forced to abandon his 'Canadian project' in order to complete the report on their British magnetic survey.

Sabine, [John] Herschel, [John William] Lubbock, [Roderick Impey] Murchison, Ackland and others have all been agitating Lord Northampton, President of the Royal Society, to be more active in lobbying the government to sanction the proposed south polar expedition headed by [James Clark] Ross. An appointment with Lord Minto, to be attended by Lord Northampton, Herschel, Ross and Symons, 'Surveyor of the Navy', is set, at which the final decision on the expedition should be made.
