DescriptionDiscussion on the effect of the inducing action on the experiments of deflection. Consideration on the temperature corrections, in reference to the deflecting magnets in [Johann von] Lamont’s experiment, the angle and the value of Q. Riddell discusses Lamont being correct in his formula relating to large angles, and limits in deflection.

Discussion on [Carl Friedrich] Gauss’s method being more convenient and its comparison to Lamont’s. Riddell discusses the mistakes arising from the use of the tangents.
