Description | Boguslawski thanks Sabine for his letter dated 10th October. Boguslawski expresses his deep interest Sabine’s work and notes that Sabine has secured himself ‘an immortal name in the annals of earths magnetism’. Boguslawski is ‘overjoyed’ to receive documents from Sabine himself on the results of his journey and investigations, and by Professor [Humphrey] Lloyd his inventions. Boguslawski discusses the limited resources at ‘Breslau’ [Wrocław] Observatory and his observations magnetic declination with a magnetometer by Gauss. Boguslawski refers to the Silesian Society and the Magnetic Association at Göttingen. Baron [Alexander von] Humboldt informed Boguslawski that Sabine is sending him an instrument invented by Lloyd for the purpose of measuring the vertical force of the earth’s magnetism. |
