Description | Remarks on the ‘little tripod’ used to support the portable magnetic instruments. Ronalds describes having an idea in 1824 to have ‘three pairs of legs, jointed together at the bottom, to support a sketching table’, ‘drawings of a perspective instrument’ consisting of ‘three pairs of legs jointed below’ in March 1825. Refers to devising a tripod, and its sale to Mr Cary, Captain [Henry] Kater and Mr Wollaston. Includes a drawing of three sticks joined together to form a triangle. |
