DescriptionRegarding the printing of the magnetical, meteorological and nautical observations.

Includes a copy of a letter dated 21st August 1862 by William Parkinson Wilson, stating he is sending a report presented to ‘His Excellency’ [Henry Barkly], regarding the printing of observations. The Board recommends the proposal by Professor [Georg Balthazar] von Neumayer to print in Europe observations of the Flagstaff Hill Observatory. recommendations to print meteorological observations from country stations and nautical observations from ships. Details of estimate cost, and a request of £1540. Question regarding the printing of hourly observations. Wilson refers to the importance of these observations and the necessity to print them, as the maintenance of scientific observatories will be meaningless if the results are not printed.

Neumayer’s proposal to the Board detailed in ‘Appendix No. 1’. Neumayer also submitted estimate cost of printing in Melbourne to the Board included in ‘Appendix No. 2’.
