Title | Letter from Edward Walker, Segrave Lodge, Cheltenham to [Edward Sabine] |
Date | 25 May 1865 |
Description | Walker informs Sabine that he has been awarded the Adams Prize by the university of Cambridge for the best essay regarding ‘the laws and phenomena of terrestrial and cosmical magnetism’. Walker thanks Sabine for this success for giving him access to various works. Professor [James] Challis (one of the adjudicators of the award) has informed Walker he may make any additions to his essay to make it ‘more complete’ and that Sabine is available to answer any queries. Walker asks Sabine regarding the weakest part of his essay’ the ‘instrument part’, as he does not have any practical experience using magnetic instruments. |
