Title | Letter from G H [George Hartley] Bryan, University College of North Wales, Bangor, to 'Dear Sirs', the Royal Society |
Creator | Bryan; George Hartley (1864-1928); Irish mathematician |
Date | 9 March 1904 |
Description | Miss Ellis has passed on the letter pf 8 March and he is extremely annoyed to find that the mathematical volume of the International Catalogue of Scientific Literature deals only with pure mathematics. This differs from the description sent to his College when subscriptions were invited, and it is of no use. The subscription was from their library fund for pure and applied mathematics, with no intimation that the latter would be dealt with within mechanics. Many references in the mechanics volume fall outside the scope of applied mathematics and they have no additional funds to subscribe to both books. He asks Miss Ellis to return the volume. |
