Description | On 31 October, Council of the Royal Society discussed the question of whether they should appoint a committee, or appoint a representative to a committee created by another body, with regard to Leakey's claims and Boswell's findings on them. Council decided it should adhere to the principle never to give a corporate opinion with regard to scientific matters of controversy or interest. They will not constitute a committee, but the matter is one for open discussion, either in a public scientific meeting or through the scientific press. |
