|Description||Minutes of the student physical science society at Bedford College, London (founded 1849), the first higher education college for women in England. The volume gives details of the society's elections for president, secretary and committee members. In term-time, the meetings centred on presentations of papers by society members and other lecturers. Contributers include Miss M.S. Crewdson, Miss W.A. Leyshon, Miss M.D. [Mary Desiree] Waller and Miss Evelyn E. Hewer. The book contains two loose inserted documents: one, a notice soliciting signatures of students who wished to join the Society; and a second, minutes on the amalgamation of the Physical Science Society with biological societies at the College, to create a single Bedford College Science Demonstration Club. |
Inscribed in ink on the front cover: 'Minutes of the Physical Science Society'.
