Description | As [Edward] Sabine is severely ill, Lloyd has not had nay scientific correspondence with him. Richardson informs Lloyd that he and his associate Mr Rae, made a careful series of observations with the inclinometer, and the results have been sent to Captain [Charles] Younghusband at Woolwich. They also made corresponding experiments with the unifilar, but they were unable to get the effect of temperature and other values owning to limited time. Discussion on setting and temperature of the observations made with the unifilar in comparison to the experiments with inclinometer.
Richardson informs Lloyd that an hourly register of declination, 14 to 18 observations were made for six months, and term day observations were also kept. |
