The Duke of Sussex reports to Children that he has received a letter seeking funds from the Royal Society for the proposed monument to Sir Walter Scott. States that the sender [?] should be informed that the Society does not have funds to be employed in that way. Mentions John William Lubbock [Treasurer of the Society] and is critical of his position on donations from members. [?] |
