DescriptionExperiments with an 18-pounder gun at Chatham, Kent, 11 July-18 August 1749; described in the paper 'A letter to Lord Anson', read 26 October 1749.

The notebok continues with positional observations taken aboard ship as Benjamin Robins travelled to India. These commence on 25 January 1749/50 and include a series of observations taken at anchor at the mouth of the River Gambia, including 'by a large Hadley' [quadrant?] (pp.40-54). This log continues until 14 May 1750 (to p.78). With other occasional notes.
