DescriptionBarkly discusses the establishment of a new meteorological and magnetical observatory in Mauritius, and hopes the presence of Dr [Charles] Meldrum in England removed any obstacles to this endeavour. Barkly has also written to the new Secretary of State for the colonies, Lord Carnarvon, regarding this.
