TitleLetter from Henry [Francis] Blanford, Bengal Club, [Kolkata] 'Calcutta' to Edward Sabine
Date9 August 1873
DescriptionSabine has expressed an interest in Blanford’s work to gain knowledge of the meteorology of India. Therefore, Blanford is sending Sabine a copy of his paper on the winds of northern India. General [Richard] Strachey offered to communicate Blanford’s work to the Royal Society. Blanford informs Sabine that his paper was presented to the government of Bengal and distributed among the officers but no others, and remains an unpublished paper. Blanford wrote to Strachey regarding this, however, has not had a reply. Blanford requests Sabine to form his own opinion on Blanford’s paper and asks him to communicate it to the Society, the British Association, or any others he sees fit. Blanford is anxious not to let the hard work be ‘simply buried’ in India.
