DescriptionBond thanks Sabine for the volume of instructions and requests copies of the manual that can be distributed to the surveying parties. Discusses the Observatory of Harvard College will only be able to carry out magnetic observations to determine the declination, dip, and intensity. Bond argues that undertaking more work in relation to magnetic observations would distract from the work of the astronomical observatory. Discussion on a book regarding calculation of solar eclipses by [William] Whitson, London, 1724. Bond asks Sabine if he is aware of early determinations of the dip in America.
