DescriptionDiscussion on the employment of Brooke’s instrument in the ‘colonies’. Brooke informs Sabine of his success in improving the instrument, and will be happy to show Sabine photographs that are ‘equal in distinctness and far superior in cleanliness’. Discusses the prospect of obtaining daguerreotypes on silvered paper, and photographic records in the ‘colonies’.

Discussion on the registers already obtained and the constant relation between the disturbances of declination and the horizontal force. Reference to the cost and labour of preparing several daguerreotypes plates.

Brooke makes proposals regarding the complete set of apparatus presented to the Cambridge Observatory.
