DescriptionCaldecott thanks the Rajah for his continual support in maintaining the [Thiruvananthapuram] Observatory permanently, as well as his ‘confidence’ in him.

Includes a letter from Caldecott to General [William] Cullen, discussing his note to the Rajah in order to ‘ascertain’ his ‘real sentiments’ regarding the establishment of the Observatory.

Includes a letter from General Cullen to Caldecott dated 11th January 1843. Cullen expresses happiness to learn all ‘uncertainty’ regarding the Rajah’s wishes toward the Observatory have been removed.
