DescriptionCaswell introduces his friend Professor N P Hill and describes his [upcoming] visit to England ‘for scientific purposes and partly on business connected with important silver and gold mining’. Refers to the warm welcome received by ‘strangers’ on Sabine’s ‘lands’, takes the opportunity to introduce Hill, and hopes Sabine will find Hill ‘an agreeable gentleman’. Caswell thanks Sabine for his anniversary address to The Royal Society and congratulates him. Caswell intends to send Sabine the second annual report of the Trustees of the Rhode Island Hospital.

Includes fragments discussing a [Negretti and Zambra] barometer.
