TitleLetter from George Biddell Airy, Royal Observatory Greenwhich to John Peter Gassiot
Date20 August 1866
DescriptionAiry expresses his happiness that the Kew Committee have prepared an apparatus (a stone-ware stove) for investigating the temperature connections of the magnets. Airy asks Gassiot if he could borrow the stove for the [Greenwich] observatory in order to investigate the temperature connections of magnet, and if he could be sent the results of the experiments they are conducting as soon as practicable. The subject of temperature connection has been of great concern to Airy with experimental investigations being difficult to undertake at Greenwich.

[Includes a copy of the answer to Airy’s letter]. Gassiot assures Airy that the results of the temperature connections at Kew observatory will be sent to him as well as the stove.
