TitleLetter from Johann Georg Forchhammer, Copenhagen to Edward Sabine
Date19 August 1855
DescriptionForchhammer wrote to Captain Washington regarding bottles of seawater collected by Captain [Richard] Collison in the polar sea. Forchhammer asks Sabine of the possibility of sea water being collected ‘at great depths’ but is aware his request may be ‘too much’ to ask, ‘under the present circumstances’ while there is a war ‘raging’. Forchhammer is unable to go to Sabine’s house in order to accompany him to the meeting in Glasgow.
