DescriptionMr Jordan intends to send Captain [Francis] Beaufort a small dipping needle. Fox has recently had a third dipping needle made for the ‘instrument’ which he sends ‘as a small contribution to the cause of magnetism’ and will have less swing at sea. Discussion regarding light and heavy needles for observations at sea.
