Galloway looks forward to Sabine’s next paper and the ‘map of magnetic lines in the northern quarter of the globe’. Refers to the search for Sir John Franklin. Praises Sabine and remarks on his contribution to science. Discusses the ‘causes of disturbances, the constant magnetic influence of the moon with its semi-diurnal tide’.
